Coaching
I really got a lot out of the (coaching client) workshop, not just in terms of technique, but also because it challenged me, as a person and as a writer, and made me think about myself and where I am. The exercises you had us do often seemed tailor made for us as a group and as individuals. As all of us agreed (we did talk about it), you are a damn good teacher.
Thanks for all the excellent coaching. I had no idea what a help that could be.
Thank you for your kind and timely words today.
Thank you, Judy, for your insight about how to expand and understand the compartment idea, how it can work and help me. Yippeeeee! You helped me see how I can apply the idea to actually use it. Wow! This is huge!
I wanted to share a thought I had about writing coaching, specifically your coaching, and our discussion about the hesitation to take that leap to put our writing out there. I am so glad I contacted you when I did. I have learned SO much and I keep learning. There is NO way I would ever have stuck with this if I hadn’t had your help.
Very few people have ever said, "No, you CAN figure this out. And I will help you through it." The usual helping response I get is: "Just do this." Or "Do it my way." Not, "How can I help you figure this out for yourself?" Or, "What can I do to support you in doing what you want?" Huge difference there.
You have an amazing, uncanny ability to make what I see as “flaws” in myself seem less like brick walls I can’t scale or overcome and more like detours in the road I can work around.
Thank you for all you do. I always feel better about myself, my writing, and the world after we meet. You have a gift, Judy.
You inspire as well as teach. You provide fuel to spark the tinder.
Thank you for being a great part of my life. I NEVER EVER could have received the success achieved with my book Change Maker without your excellent editorial assistance, writing, and support.
YOU ARE GREAT!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!
Editing
Your notes from your last edit have been invaluable, and I'm hoping the changes that I've (we've) made have finally aimed the story in the right direction. I've been spending a lot of energy on another complete overhaul of the story. I've been amazed at the amount of work you put into your edits, and more than that, at how helpful your ideas have been in focusing my writing.
It was such a delight working with you. Thank you so much for your thoughtful reviews of my essay. Your suggestions were spot on and you helped me so much. You are not only a great editor, but also a caring and deeply empathic person and I thank you.
Programs & Workshops
I learned more about interpretation in these four days than I learned in ten years of working in the field.
I rarely give all “excellents” (for program evaluations). Judy was excellent. I discovered many insights—mind-opening and helpful, useful.
I had a little glimmer of possibilities, Judy threw the door open so I could see it all.
Judy's high energy delivery and thorough knowledge made this an enjoyable and worthwhile session.
She has an easy way of making us all feel comfortable and at home as a group of strangers. Impressive!
I just wanted to thank you for your hard work and patience. It was a very worthwhile class.
Writing exercise, reading to friends, your knowledge of the subject. The many angles and approaches you took to creative writing, and for that matter to interpretive writing. I expected something much more didactic and was thrilled by your way of delivering the message, your way of being a facilitator for us to actually get to write. The confidence I got about my writing style.
The slides were informative but not too cluttered. The facilitator created a nice non-threatening environment. The topic was interesting and the approach was effective. The breakout rooms and hands-on activity was fun and informative.
